Stan Lee’s Superheroes for the Next Generation: A Giveaway

Comic Books GeekMom

Stan Lee has a new superhero series for the next generation—one that features a multicultural hero in over his head, trying to master his own new powers while avoiding mercenaries who know just what to do with theirs.

The Zodiac Legacy: Convergence by Lee, Stuart Moore, and illustrator Andie Tong features a Chinese-American teenager named Steven, who is thrown into an “epic global chase” to unlock the mysterious powers of the Zodiac.

Want to find out how you’d stack up in Steven’s place? You can use the Zodiac Generator to find your own sign and description. Since it’s been a snowy weekend, I decided to check out what I would become in Lee’s new world. I’m apparently a snake and a villain in the series. Hmm…

Below, enter to win a copy of the book, plus some other goodies.

Lee is, of course, the co-architect of Marvel’s Silver Age and the co-creator, with Jack Kirby, of the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man, among many others. Steven’s situation in Convergence echoes Peter Parker’s origin, with a teenager unexpectedly obtaining powers that quickly pull him into trouble.

Moore is the author of the recent Civil War, the first in a new line of prose novels from Marvel Comics; The Art of Iron Man 3 (Marvel, with Marie Javins); and THE 99, a multicultural superhero comic from Teshkeel. Illustrator Andie Tong has worked on titles for various franchises, including Tron: Betrayal, Spectacular Spider-Man UK, The Batman Strikes, Smallville, Wheel of Time, and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Tong also concept-designs for various companies and juggles illustration duties on a range of children’s picture storybooks for Harper Collins. Malaysian born, Tong migrated to Australia at a young age, and then moved to London in 2005. He currently resides in Singapore.

  1. My favorite cameo was in not quite a cameo- when Stan appeared as Fred’s dad in Big Hero 6. Second place would be Avengers.

  2. My favorite was when he was in The Hulk walking with Lou down the street. I always look forward to his cameos – Even in Daredevil.

  3. Did anyone see him getting shoes shined on “Agent Carter” last week. That was a really good one, especially Howard Stark’s reaction to him.

  4. I don’t think I have a favorite. I love them all. I did like when he showed up at the end of Big Hero Six. And I was just watching Winter Soldier last night, so that cameo was fun.

  5. I liked his cameo in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer!

  6. Since it was my first, the Mallrats cameo stands out most for me. I also think it’s funny that among his 75 acting credits is a role in The Princess Diaries 2

  7. I was happy to see him in Agent Carter, though I have to say for movies it was TOTALLY Big Hero 6!
