The Book of Life is an upcoming feature animated film, to be released on October 17th, produced by Guillermo Del Toro, directed by Jorge Guttierez, and starring the voices of Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna, Ron Perlman, Ice Cube, and Danny Trejo. It caught my eye because of the diverse cast and because of Del Toro’s reputation for quality.
According to 20th Century Fox, the movie tells the legend of Manolo, a conflicted hero and dreamer, who sets off on an epic quest through magical, mythical, and wondrous worlds in order to rescue his one true love and defend his village. There is a parade in the afternoon on Halloween day and then my brother and his wife bring his kids to my house to trick or treat in my neighborhood. That way I get to see their costumes. And we eat dinner together when they’re done. Usually pizza or something else fun for the kids.
