Travel to the Land of Dinosaurs With Tales of Prehistoric Life: Ankylosaur Attack

Say that three times fast!

Written by Daniel Loxton, author of the book Evolution: How We and All Living Things Came to Be–a long, detailed, and fantastic science book for children that every parent should read WITH their child–and illustrated by Loxton with Jim W.W. Smith, Tales of Prehistoric Life: Ankylosaur Attack is a visual masterpiece.

Intended for kids aged 4 to 7, Ankylosaur Attack holds 32 pages of life-like dinosaur surroundings, encounters, and fights. See what happens when an Ankylosaur meets a Tyranosaurus Rex! The images of the dinosaurs and their surroundings are computer generated, showing what the scene might have looked like in real life. But it doesn’t look like a regular computer-generated image. There is selective focus, motion blur, and a large amount of detail. And you won’t find any sanitized cartoons here. <SPOILER> Still, there is no blood in any of the pictures, and no death, true to the intended audience. </SPOILER>

The story takes one possible day in the life of a young Ankylosaur and lets us peek into what it might have really been like back then. The single storyline has just the right amount of story tension and anticipation, and the interesting illustrations cause the reader (or listener) to linger on each page to study the scene that is before them.

After the story, some scientific background is given on the prehistoric creatures in the book. While it is full of facts, it is still written to the early elementary child for easy understanding.

Ankylosaur Attack is only the first book in the new Tales of Prehistoric Life series. Watch out for other volumes in the future!

Tales of Prehistoric Life: Ankylosaur Attack is available from Amazon for $12.20. Get it for any dinosaur or science lover on your list! Also consider getting Evolution: How We and All Living Things Came to Be, currently $12.89 at Amazon, a thorough study into the different aspects of evolution.

Note: I received a copy of the book for review purposes.
