“Incomplete” Steampunk Art & Figurine © Brigid Ashwood 2011

When I heard we were going to be having a steampunk week here at GeekMom.com I knew right away that I wanted to help celebrate the event with a giveaway. Just as I was deciding what, exactly, to give away, I received an email from a figurine company I work with.

Lo and behold, the new line of figurines they were producing based on my steampunk-inspired art were finished with production and on their way to me via UPS. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect.

All of the four figurines pictured here were based on drawings and paintings of my work. Since I can’t decided which of these to give away – I’ll let the winner choose. To enter simply comment in the thread below. The winner (chosen randomly) will receive a signed print and the matching signed figurine set of their choice!

This giveaway is open to everyone regardless of location. The deadline to enter is Sunday night. Lastly don’t fret if you don’t win. You can buy prints and figurines on my website. Good luck!

UPDATE MONDAY 3/28 9:06 AM – And the winner is ….. Jenny R. ! I’ll be contacting you via email Jenny R.

  1. Congratulations on the completion of your figurines! So many wonderful things happening for you… I am so happy for you. 🙂

  2. Wow, I’d love to win one of these, they are fantastic!!
Thank you for doing the giveaway 🙂
The biggest problem would be choosing which one to pick!!

  3. I am always in awe at the amount of superior work that you are able to produce and still have time to be a tween’s geeky, cool mom.

  4. I don’t think I can say anything that hasn’t been said already, but since I really do like them, I think I’ll do it anyways. Your artwork is jaw-droppingly stunning.

  5. Definitely very cool and would love to own it woudl be nice to spruce up my work space with.

  6. Oh wow! I adore solo dance, figures are just lovely.

    Fingers crossed for a win.

Keep up the grand work x

  7. They are all beautiful. Firefly particularly captures something both steampunk and whimsical.

  8. The newsletter said to come here. Here I am. They look great; you have to be thrilled! And Firefly is long standing family nickname for me… just saying… would be sweet to win!

  9. I just received my”Secret Recipes” kitchen witch in the mail from Amazon today which reminded to checked in to see if your promised GeekMom steampunk post had appeared and . . . Ooh! nice! more cool art.
Its interesting to see the 3D bronze juxtaposed with the 2D art. I admired your firefly print at the Mythic Fair. Have to say that figurine is my favorite too.

  10. Brigid Ashwood is one of my all-time favorite contemporary artists. She ‘does’ steampunk like no one else ever could. At 2009’s FaerieCon, I had the pleasure of meeting Brigid and seeing her work digitally. She signed my purchased prints and encouraged me to continue writing and creating. I would absolutely LOVE to win any one of the pieces in Brigid’s new statue collection. I especially love ‘Solo Dance.’ It is PHENOMENAL!!! Thank you for this rare and wonderful opportunity. ~ .xoL.

  11. Thes must be the Steampunk figurines mentioned at your Mythic Faire discussion – I like them alot!

  12. These are awesome, I’d like one for my niece that was born yesterday….a statue to aspire towards 🙂

  13. Faery+Steampunk=<3
I have collected faeries all my life because my mother does. I have not been into Steampunk for quite as long. I do not have any Steampunk faeries and these would be awesome. They are beautiful!

  14. You really produce some great pieces! I think I would have a hard time choosing which is my favorite piece! Keep up the great work; its nice to see someone doing something they enjoy AND make a business out of it! Great Art!

  15. I just discovered you and think your artwork is wonderful and ingenious. Thank you for the chance to win one of your sculpture pieces!

  16. I feel like I’ve seen steampunk everything, but I’ve never seen a steampunk fairy! how cool!

  17. Very nice work. I’m looking at the artist website, and the pic for the Steampunk World Fair is pushing pretty much all of my buttons.

  18. I like “Incomplete” the best. It reminds me that I need to get back out into the shop and get back to work on my own stuff.

  19. What wonderful drawings! What an honor to have your drawings turned into figurines. Something to always cherish.

  20. Beautiful work. We are a family of geeks and my spouse has created some amazing steampunk art of his own, so your piece would feel right at home! I love “Firefly” BTW 🙂 — Nic

  21. So gorgeous! I must have Firefly, win or buy! Thank you for creating beauty for us to enjoy. I am in awe.

  22. I really hope to win one of these marvels of detail!

(glad the contest is open to people from Europe as well)

  23. What gorgeous parings! I wish I had such wonderful artistic talent.
    Here’s hoping that I win!

  24. Dude I really like the marionette one it reminds me of herr drolsemers doll by Abney Park!

  25. Lovely figurines and artwork, wish I had such a great talent, sleeping doesn’t really count!

  26. Really like solo dance. Looks like it should be spinning on top of a music box.

  27. They are all stunning, fab art work.i would love to win the solo dance.would put the finishing touch to any ones home,x

  28. Lovely work, nice to see the mixed genres. The color print for Brigid3 has some amazing color. Very eye catching.

    Travis

  29. What an amazing job as being done here This looks simply DEVINE

A very well done from me 2 YOU

  30. Wow. These are beautiful, and breathe a bit of life back into the steampunk genre. “Incomplete” is still my favorite, but that might be because I saw it first and it won’t let go.

  31. WOW I love this artwork! Its a style i find hard to find but really like…well done xx

  32. The art is enchanting, like fairytale land for adults. I love the way she looks secretly seductive, like she has desires but we’ve to pretend we don’t know that.

  33. These are so cool, damn i wish i could create something like these, firefly is my fave

  34. I’m loving Energy Crisis (now thats not a sentance I thought I’d ever use)

  35. I’ve just found this site and you may have solved my problems with trying to find my other half presents, she loves fairies and I love Steampunk so nolw i know where to get the perfect gift for her!

  36. These are so beautiful!!!! If I was lucky enough to win one it would be “Energy Crisis” She would take pride of place in my living room!!!

  37. FABULOUS THIS WOULD LOOK GREAT ON MY LIVING ROOM WALL. GOOD TALKING POINT PLEASE ENTER ME

  38. I love them all so much it’s difficult to choose just one, but will say “Incomplete” made my jaw drop the first time I saw it. I guess that officially makes it my favorite.

    Thanks for offering this giveaway!

  39. Oh, Firefly is just gorgeous! I love her metal-feather wings, and are those fishnets I see? Simply wonderful, she makes me think she should be Tinkerbell’s older sister!

  40. They are all beautiful but Solo Dance is the one that speaks to me most…….a feast for the eyes and the imagination!!!

  41. Oh pretty please with sugar on top: just throw my name in the hat. These are wonderful!

  42. Steampunk… the perfect blend of beauty and function, here captured so perfectly by an amazing artist.

  43. My favorite is “unfinished”–for in those moments of contemplation aren’t we all in-process of ‘becoming’–the sentient life being an ever evolving conscious build.

  44. So Lovely – I like Firefly the best, I think. And it is my son’s favorite song. I do think Energy Crisis has a very strong look to her though.

  45. “Energy Crisis” seems more elegant as having cleaner lines. But then I’ve always had a liking for Art Deco and sparse artwork.

Steampunk, in some ways, seems to try and recapture the romantic and social concepts of late 19th century while revving it up with appropriate interpretations of technology.

  46. Found your blog link on Wired.

It was a great article but your art and the figurines are breath taking. Thank you for sharing!

  47. Very talented. Talent seems to have passed me by but I admire someone who is.

If I am lucky enough to win I would love ‘Incomplete’

When I saw a competitions saying ‘Steampunk’ I had to have a look, being an old punk myself and glad I did. The figurines are gorgeous and the drawings are outstanding.

  48. I love this artwork, it is really unique and I know someone that would REALLY REALLY appreciate this as a gift!

  49. I love the minimalistic approach to shading and your ability to create such smooth, lively lines. I think incomplete is my favorite. The wings go perfectly with the character, and she has a look of genuine befuddlement about her as to why she isn’t fully built.
